If you’d like to further evaluate the benefits the EN can offer you, a guest account is available for limited trial of the EN. Simply enter the username guest and password guest in the login box at the right. Once you enter the EN, you will be able to view the following features:

·         Membership Search: You can search the EN membership for other members with similar interests or expertise that may be useful to your work. Simply select "Member Search" from the "My EN" menu and then search by Last Name, Institution or Keyword (for example try searching for “water” as a keyword). Once you are a full member, you can contact other members (either internally within the EN or by email) and invite them to join a discussion group. The EN currently has over 130 members (around 20% from outside UNSW) and is growing at a rate of over 30 members a month.

·         Group Discussions: You can view sample group discussions by clicking on "My Groups", either on the left hand side on the Main EN Kiosk or under the "Groups" menu. After selecting a group (eg Transport Group), you can view some existing discussions in the Discussion Forum or view uploaded links and files in the Group Summary at the top right-hand side of the screen. Full EN Members can post discussion items and form new groups.

·         Calendar of Events: The EN's Calendar function allows members to view and post information on upcoming events of an environmental nature. EN support staff will also post events of interest for members, so this function provides a great reason to visit the EN on a regular basis. The calendar can be accessed on the left hand side of the Main EN Kiosk (select "Main Kiosk" under "My EN" menu). A summary of the month's events will appear initially, with full details of individual events or access to the whole calendar only a click away. Once you are a full EN member you can post your own calendar events.

·         Conducting Surveys: The EN Ideas Group has an example of the EN's ability to conduct surveys. Select EN Ideas Group (through My Groups in the Groups menu) and then under the Web Survey menu select View Surveys. The archived survey entitled “Second EN Trial Group Survey” has the results of a survey undertaken during the EN's trial phase, including demonstrating the ability to generate pie charts of survey responses.

If you wish to join as a full EN member, please click here and then simply enter your details, read the terms and conditions and submit your request. An annual administration fee of $A45-00 is applicable to members from outside UNSW to enable us to provide support services and to send out a monthly newsletter regarding the network, where we may post some of your news from time to time. The cost of providing the EN to UNSW members is covered by the Environmental Network’s core funding and individual faculties are not billed.
